So, I just finished watching the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy. LOVE that show!! I've loved this show since I saw the first preview..... yep, it was love at first sight. Anyway, new season, new episode, and a newly happy Jess over her Grey's.
Somehow, during Grey's, we got into a discussion about living at home and how I'll eventually move out. Here's the deal.... I'm 25 and still live at home. Yes. It's true. But, I see it like this.... I have several friends that are in their late 20's or early 30's who have had to move back home or their parents are bailing them out financially. I'm trying to avoid this, lol. I work my butt off, get to spend and treat myself a little, and I get to save A LOT. I'm slowly, but surely, creating a nest egg that will hopefully let me be completely independent, eventually. I like home.... I get along with my mom and stepdad... so, it's not a hardship. I help when I can or when they need me to and I save as much as possible.
So, that's the story, there.
Now, on to walking. Paula, Billie Jo, and I have a little walking club going on. For the past two weeks, we've been walking every night. Now, before that I did the Elliptical and Treadmill... but I am definitely enjoying the walking. We go around the Lake. And, most of the time, we go around twice, which (with the way we do it) equals to 6 miles. Yay us!
.... Now, if I can only see that in weight-loss, lol.

Yay! It's premiere week!!
I know how dorky and lame this is, but I don't care! It's premiere week! This week is the reason I love September, lol.
I'm in love with TV... I just am. One of my middle names is after a TV character, so I was doomed from the start, lol!
It's the week that reruns are no more and we get all-new episodes of our favorite shows. Plus, as an added bonus, we get to try out the new shows and make predictions as to whether or not they'll make it to November Sweeps (one of the many reasons I love November).
Tonight is the premiere of Dancing with the Stars.... there are others tonight, but I'm really looking forward to DWTS. Not only is the celebrity line-up good (Warren Sapp, Cloris Leachman, Susan Lucci, etc), but one of my favorites from 'So You Think You Can Dance' (my favorite summer show) is one of the professional dancers this season. Go Lacey!!
Later this week is my absolute favorite.... a TWO hour premiere of Grey's Anatomy. I can't tell you how excited I am.
Little known fact about me.... I LOVE the last four and a half months of the year. It's my favorite time of the year.
* August = my birthday
* September = Premiere Week!
* October = Fall weather starts... pumpkins are out in abundance... Halloween
* November = Thanksgiving.... ABC Super Soap Weekend.... November Sweeps... the beginning the holiday season... Black Friday/the day you get to start playing Christmas music
* December = The most wonderful time of the year... Christmas... parties... etc
I get it... I need to seek professional help, lol.

Alrighty.... so maybe not....
Remember how last night, I was going to work on being sweet, congenial, and happy-go-lucky, all the time?
Yeah, then I went to work.
I work PT at the radio station, but I have a desk and computer. I, at times, have to share with some of the interns that come in, but basically I've got my own little corner in the Promotions office.
Well, we have a new officemate. Whatever, that's fine. Only, she has decided that she doesn't like "the clutter" in our office. So, she's decided to clean house.
For the past two years, I've been raising a little farm of McDonald's Happy Meal toys. When you first walk in the office, they've been on top of a filing cabinet. EVERYONE plays with the toys. It's almost a conversation piece.... a little fun for the office. She mentioned to me about a week ago, "Say good-bye to your little toys." I told her that she could do whatever she wanted with everything else on the cabinet, but the toys were staying.
I came in today and my toys are gone. I looked around and she had put them in a grocery bag and placed the bag by my desk. I'm slightly livid, right now. Like, I'm trying really hard not to go off.
It's not even about the toys. They're stupid children's items. It's the prinicple of the matter!!! She's been in the office for less than two weeks and she's decided that none of us matter? It's rude! Especially after she was told by me AND the Promotion's Director to leave them alone.
I know it's petty and stupid, but I'm fuming.
And, now, I'm off to go put them back in their rightful place.........

Oh, BTW....
Why did I choose the title "All-American Jess?"
Well, I've been called an "All-American Girl" or a "Good Girl" a lot, lately. My friend Ashley and I were talking about it and how it's almost used as an insult. It really is..... I mean, I'm hardly perfect or innocent. But, I do tend to make pretty good choices.
Some people I know in my "current" life don't realize that having come from a Christan school, I grew up with people a lot better than me, lol. I grew up watching soap operas, Friends, and Dawson's Creek.... that made me a rebel, to some people's thinking, lol. So, it baffles me when I'm considered to be all sweet and innocent.
Also, there are people I know that are a lot more positive and nice. I am moody. I can be very cynical and sarcastic. There are dozens of people that come to mind that are sweeter than pie and are sooooo happy and encouraging.
So, while I don't tend to think of myself that way, that's the way people perceive me, I guess.
And, I'm deciding to try to not only live up to it, but think of it as a compliment.
We'll see how that goes, lol.........

Hello Blogspot!
So, I already have a Facebook and a MySpace. And, now, I'm adding a Blogspot just to complete my internet dorkiness!
I've been reading lots of blogs, lately, and it strikes me as a totally different situation than the other sites. Facebook is more of a "keeping track" of people site.... not so much fun as the vital statistics. MySpace, for me, is a creative scapbook type of thing.
I'm deciding to use this as a journal, I guess. And, in writing down my life, I hopefully will be able to see where I've been and where I'm going.
I'm not sure if anyone else will ever read this, but at least I will!
So, here's the deal....
I just turned 25 two weeks ago. I live at home with my mom, stepdad, brother, stepsister, aunt, and two cousins. Yep, that's a total of 8 people. Trust me, I don't intend to live here forever. I'm just trying to save money and help the family out as much as possible.
I work three part-time jobs.... a dance instructor, substitute teacher, and at a radio station. I eventually want to be full-time in radio/entertainment, but it's taking longer than I expected. I don't mind working my way up or working really, really hard.... I'd just like it to go a tiny bit faster than it's going.
Overall, I like my life. But, in the next year (before I turn 26), I'm hoping to make some major changes.
1) Have a full-time job.... if not at where I'm at, then someplace else. I really don't want to go any where else, but despite promises and appreciation, part-time is getting really old, lol. I need benefits and a more regular paycheck, so I can work on being a fully independent person. Plus, let's face it, living at home with 7 other people can really hurt your social life, at times.
2) Lose weight!!! I've done a great job, but I've hit a lull, so I'm kicking myself back into gear.
3) Celebrate life more..... I really want to live more and appreciate what I have more.
4) Hopefully, be more open. I've found that on Facebook and MySpace, I've begun to hide parts of myself. I'm not sure why, but I'd like to rectify that!
Now, that I've gotten that out of the way..... I think I'm going to start documenting the different parts of my life to create a fuller picture. Or, whatever.
*Yes, I'm over-analyzing the whole thing.... I get this.... However, this is me :)
Until then, have a good one!
