A quick jaunt around Part One of 2016......

It's hard to believe that we're halfway into 2016. It's been a whirlwind.... a lot of fun.

I have so many things to expound on, but there are always those little moments of life that you want to remember. Lest I forget.....

Junior League

I mentioned before that I joined JL and LOVE it. Still so true and the love is growing. We just finished out the year and I'm looking forward to next year. I'm staying on the two committees I was on for this year (Provisional and Special Events). I'm actually chairing the Special Events committee.... there are a lot of things I feel can be improved upon and the leaders agree with my vision. Most of the Provisional committee is staying on, which I am so happy about!

The girls (Katherine, Shannon, Emily, Katherine, and Kathleen) and I at a party for one of our major fundraisers.

Our committee meetings always turned into a party. We went into this one planning a party for Kathleen's birthday. That candle? Coolest candle ever. It opened up, spun, and sang.

Courtney and I at the end of the year banquet.

Kathleen and I at the end of the year banquet.

Marjorie, Malonie, Kathleen, Meranda, and I at a Prospective Member event.

Work

My job is going really well, this year! *knockonwood* I've always loved it, but I had some growing pains in the past couple years. This time last year, management finally "got it" and worked to improve some things for me. Since then, it's still busy and stressful and sometimes not a walk in the park, but I'm a lot more fulfilled than I was for a while.

My coworker Mike walked in my office holding this monstrosity. He found it outside of a side door in between my office and his studio. Blech!!!

These people are my best friends at work. We were at an event our station was hosting and got a bit slap happy.

One of the perks is getting tickets to fun events.... like a Rum Fest. My cousin Heidi and brother Trevor joined me at this one. My assistant Chris hung out with us and we all had a blast.

This little nugget has been my life saver in the past year. Ashley worked out her internship hours and practicum to be with me a full year. Now, she's hanging out to keep learning and hopefully get hired on. I'm working on it so hard!!!

Oh, and small detail.... I met Kate Upton. Her boyfriend (and I think now fiancee) plays for the Detroit Tigers, who call us home for Spring Training. They had an event and we supported. She was super nice. And, a lot tinier, lean, etc than she looks on the cover of magazines.

Family and Friends

I'm really so blessed to have such great people in my life. And, the most adorable niece in the world (more in depth posts coming).

We see one another all the time, so sometimes it doesn't feel like "an event." But, it is wonderful and I don't take it for granted.

We had an Easter party and a bunch of friends/family came over. It ended up being a great time.

The top left? That's Lydia. She is seven now and it's breaking my heart how big she's getting. I can't handle it.

This was taken in the bathroom at an event. The bathrooms were decorated to the max. Billie Jo and I thought this was hysterical, so it was selfie time.

Life Lately (in IPhone pics)....

One thing I love about my IPhone is being able to take decent pics at a moment's notice. One thing I hate about my IPhone is that the ease of photo-taking makes me lazy... I use my real, actual camera less and less.

Anyway, I was going through my Camera Roll and found some pics from the last month that basically tell what I've been up to......

I walked into my room and I found this.... Apparently, my brother decided that Mitt needed to watch over me as I slept, which was both creepy and funny.........

You know those "easy and quick" hair tutorials? Yeah, not so much. This was what my hair was supposed to look like and what it actually did look like after 5 tries.......

My former intern A is a doll. One of my absolute favorites. A year out of college and she has an AMAZING job, working for a very high-power politician. Like, it's a job that I'd kill to have. Anyway, she officially earned my envy when she met Fitz/The President/Tony Goldwyn. She also met Jake Ballard/Scott Foley, but neglected to get a picture. I died a little.........

My friend/coworker C held his annual Cinco De Mayo Party on May 3rd. It was full of fun, frivolity, and friends. I was coherent enough to snap a few pictures........

The group Parmalee performed in a local club back in May. A rather large group of us from the station went and we had a really great time!....

A client brought in blueberries for our morning show. FD wasn't going to be able to use his, so he gave them to me........................

In case you can't tell..... That is a full gallon, a full quart, and half a quart. I'm set on blueberries for a while!

My mom, Megan, and I went to Melting Pot, where my mom got this tasty-looking beverage.........

We also were delighted that Creme Brulee Chocolate was back!!! It is amazing.........

Last Friday, my brother had to have a procedure on his heart. He is fine now, but it was a very long day of sitting in one hospital waiting room after another. At one point, we were aghast/amused at the fact that Jerry Springer was still on the air. You really should hear five intelligent adults trying to keep the storylines straight....

To close us out....... I cannot believe that this beauty graduated from Pre-K on Monday and will be headed to Kindergarten!!!! I've said it so many times, but I will say it again.... If I'm never able to have children of my own (and I pray I will), God has blessed me with this little girl. So many moments of her life I've been able to be present and active.

Premiere Week!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone as excited about Premiere Week as I am?!?!?! I know that NBC has already rolled out the majority of their shows, but I barely watch that channel, so this is my week.

As always, I have a ridiculously (it's ridiculous.... really absurd) long list of shows that I'm going to attempt to check out..... and, will pare down after the first couple of weeks.

Monday

Good job ABC.... I had completely lost interest in this show over the past 3-4 seasons. Then, you brought out the all-stars.

Barney getting married to Robin? Yes, please.

Castle (ABC)

Tuesday

New Girl (Fox)

Wednesday

Nashville (ABC)

I am going to give this one a shot.... It may be awful, but I will see.

Thursday (ie, my favorite night)

I can watch this show a million times and still find it hysterical.

AGGGHHH!!!! I can't wait!!!!!

Scandal (ABC)

Shonda Rhimes is a genius and I love this show. I want to know who Quinn really is!!!!

This one doesn't start until mid-October, but I love it.

Friday

I cannot tell you the last time I watched a show on Friday night. I'm not expecting it to last, but the show looked cute, so I want to check it out.

Sunday

Revenge (ABC)

The Mentalist (CBS)

What are you looking forward to this Fall Premiere Week?

HISMSV - Bells and Ducks

We began Thursday the 9th at Reading Terminal Market with a breakfast prepared by the Amish. Man, they make really good food.

Next on the list was a trip to see the Liberty Bell......

.... and some Visitor Center visiting.

My family loves Duck Tours. Every city we go to that has one, we do it. They are informative, corny, and fun!!!

Betsy Ross' house....

According to our tour guide, that is the building that Will Smith bought for his dad....

On the river..........

Trevor loves getting his picture taken.....

On our way back to the hotel, we came across a bridal shoot. I thought it was a beautiful and interesting shot :)

Ummmmm...... Whoops?

So, I know I said that I was going to recap my "Tuesday Coffee Dates" thusfar, on Tuesday.

However, this needed to be told now.

Last Tuesday, I met with "Bachelor #3." He was super nice. Very, very sweet. He was also extremely quiet. Like, we talked, but I was mentally trying to go through a list of what I could bring up next. After about an hour and fifteen minutes, I made noises about having a few things to do and we said our goodbyes.

He gave me a hug and I told him to let me know if he wanted to hang out, again. I meant it. He was really nice and I'd be willing to give it a shot. My stepdad Mike (the one who passed away) was super quiet, so I know how that goes. While quiet is usually not what I go for (I tend to go for guys that are more outgoing than me), I recognize that there are some AWESOME men out there that are not the most talkative.

Anyway, he texted me the next day (good sign). Told me that he had a nice time and asked if he seemed quiet. I said I had a nice time and told him that he was "a bit on the quiet side." He said that he tends to be that way at first.

To which I responded, "Quiet isn't always a bad thing, lol."

Then, nothing.

Huh?

I honestly was a little puzzled, but basically decided to let it go. I mean, I have enough trouble with the guys who DO text/call but apparently don't want me. If a guy doesn't text or call, I figure that's a pretty obvious sign.

Fast-forward to yesterday. I was going through a bunch of texts, trying to weed out the ones I didn't need anymore. His was fairly far down by this point, but my eyes scanned my last text to him.

I'll let the pictures tell the rest.......

Whoops.

He has yet to text me, again, lol.

I'd already accepted that I probably would never hear from him again..... I just felt REALLY bad when I realized it was because I was accidentally a complete bitch to him :/

Anyway, we can pretty much write that one off. Overall, I figure that if he didn't feel the need to clarify my boo-boo..... and, isn't interested in pursuing anything after my boo-boo.... then, he's probably not "The One."

I will just be a little more careful with my texts from now one, lol.

Mouse, Say What?!

You know what I hate more than anything on the planet, besides child abuse and genocide?

Mice. Or, their cousins, Rats.

I hate them.

More than hate, I fear them.

Like, the "Logically, I know I'm 1,000,000,000 times bigger than them and they are more afraid of me and they can't hurt me.... However, if I see one, all logic goes out the window and I just start screaming." type of fear.

So, imagine my reaction on Monday morning when it was casually mentioned at a meeting that we have a mouse in the building.

"Um, excuse me?"

Oh, yes. A mouse. All those trees that were cut down last week in the field by our back parking lot sadly displaced the little darlings and they've found new residence in our radio station.

They moved onto other topics until I said, "Now, about this mouse situation.... We do have someone coming out to take care of it, right?"

Yes, yes, I was assured that an exterminator was already out to set glue traps. Personally, I'm more a fan of those green pellets, but whatever, I'll let them try this out. I made it clear that I. Don't. Do. Mice. and then proceeded to walk with caution wherever I went.

Fast-forward to this morning.

I get to work, get upstairs, open up my office, and then head down the hall to chat with one of the morning show teams during a break. We had a banter and then I turned to head back down the hall to my office.

And, I saw it. A mouse heading down the hall towards me.

Cue high-pitched squealing, a certain hoppy dance, flailing arms, and me running back into the studio from where I came.

Also, cue the four men I was talking to doubled over in laughter.

FD came out of another studio to see who was being killed.

Then, the sucker continued down the hall, acting as though he was coming into the very room I was currently in.

Cue more high-pitched squealing and me jumping on top of the console for safety.

The mouse ran under a door and into a dark office.

At that point, their break was over and it was time to go back on air. What was their opening line?

"Well, the mouse has been spotted and we currently have our Promotions Director, Jessica, sitting on top of our console to prove it. Pictures will be posted on FB, shortly."

Yes, they took pictures of me sitting on the console, in fear for my life, and there was nothing I could do about it.

As they were talking about other subjects, the mouse came back out of the office and ran into another studio. I may have squealed while they were on the air.

When all was said and done, our OWNER came up to the second floor to check to see if I was ok because he heard me freaking out on the radio. He also had our Ops Manager call the exterminator again, because they forgot to trap the entire upstairs.

Not cool, exterminators, not cool.

Our receptionist also called to check on me, because she could hear me screaming, downstairs and on the other side of the building.

This is not ok.

When The Going Gets Tough....

.... The Tough Eats Frozen Yogurt.....

Meet my obsession. Admittedly, this has been going on for a little over year with Yogurt Mountain.

Then, I met Pinkberry.

As much as I love YoMo, it doesn't hold a candle to Pinkberry.

Yesterday, my mom took my stepsister to the airport and on the way, they stopped at the location close to the airport. Then, they were kind enough to bring me some.... from Tampa.

The lovely PB people had it all packed in ice. It was wonderfully delicious.

After only eating half, I hid the other half in a freezer at work.

Hence my afternoon snack, today.

I'm just sad that it's gone.
