Last night I went to see the highly-anticipated (well, by me) movie, based off the book.....
I think I'm officially in love with this movie. I love films that center around several different storylines that all intertwine... 'Love Actually' is one of my all-time favorites.
Anyway, I realize it's cliche and the book has been talked over and over. However, we (I) must not have gotten it into our (my) heads, yet, because the movie still rings true. Why do women constantly feel the need to pine after men who just aren't interested? We always accuse men of wanting the chase.... but, aren't women more than guilty of that?
Most of my favorite bloggers are happily married. I adore reading about their sweet husbands, in hopes that I might one day be able to blog about mine, lol. The one fault this movie has is that all the men have some sort of caddish quality. Obviously, that's a generalization of men... not all of them are like that. But, dear heavens, when you're looking for "the one" it sure does seem like it, lol.
My favorite character in the movie is Gigi, played by the lovely Ginnifer Goodwin.
Gigi is the hopeless romantic, always thinking that the next blind date could be Mr. Right. While I'm proud to say that I don't go to such extremes as her, lol, I do relate. She does some pretty embarrassing things.... but when she turns herself into hostess at a party and then stays late to clean up... HELLO... me! Always trying to show that I'm amazing and helpful and basically trying to show that he can't live without me. Only... he can, lol. When you see it, the part after she cleans up.... I've never done, thank the Good Lord.
Alex comes along and is her tough love. He doesn't spare her feelings and she turns him into her sounding board. She finally starts to be ok with the fact that all these guys aren't for her. They may not be that into her, but she's really not that into them.
One of my favorite lines is:
Alex: He's not interested in you... run.
Gigi: So, I'm just supposed to run away from any guy that's not into me?
Alex: Yes.
Gigi: But, there won't be anyone left.
And, sometimes, it feels that way, lol. But, eventually it will all work out.
Without giving anything away, I have to share two more of my favorite lines from the movie.....
"Welcome to my world, asshole."
and
"You're my exception."
What did you think of the movie?

There's so many good movies out! Sounds like I definitely need to see this one.
I love love loved the movie. I was in tears for the last 10 minutes. :)
You know my review. But I do agree with you that Gigi's plot line was great - definitely the funniest and most relatable part.
