An Open Letter to a Thief

That's right, a THIEF.

Do you remember my 300th Post Giveaway? The one where the winner got to choose one of three Vera Bradley pieces and they also won a $25 Panera gift card?

Well, my lovely friend Gina won.

She's never owned Vera before, so we had a great time going back and forth, while she was trying to decide which color she wanted the All-In-One Wristlet in.

She chose Cupcake Green. Now, it's been discontinued, but that is what EBay is for. I found a new with tags All-In-One Wristlet in Cupcake Green.

It was really pretty and I was so excited to put that, the gift card, and a note in the package to send to her. I even called her and left her a message, I was so excited.

Last night, I was at dinner with a couple of record reps and a couple of coworkers when my phone started vibrating. I saw it was "Gina - Blogger" and immediately excused myself. I literally ran from the back of the Chili's because I was so excited to speak with her and hear if she liked the wristlet.

"Jess, I don't know how to say this, but the only thing in the package was your nice card."

I almost cried right there on the sidewalk in front of Chili's.

We spoke for a few minutes about the injustice of this all.

No, I didn't insure it. Does insurance cover thievery?

Who DOES that? Who takes the wristlet and the gift card, but leaves the note to be delivered?!?!?!

I still want to cry about it, but I'm also mad.

My aunt is an upstanding, hard-working employee of the Postal Service. She and thousands of other people take care of our letters and packages, delivering them without problem.

Someone out there is working against that mission and it ticks me off.

Gina won, fair and square.

To you, nasty Postal Worker, you didn't win fair and square. You don't deserve the Wristlet in Cupcake Green OR the Panera Gift Card.

I'm not done with this. I'm filing a complaint with the United States Postal Service. Because, this is wrong.

That is so sad! I'd be mad too! Instead of insurance I will put delivery confirmation on it because I figure that makes them a little more aware that they better do it right!

Woah, that's horrible! I can believe that someone would do that...but I hate that it's something we should be able to believe. Awful!
